WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL ECAC CHAMPIONS

Mahwah, NJ:  #1 Ramapo was crowned the 2015 ECAC DIII Metro/Upstate Women's Volleyball Champion after defeating #3 Manhattanville College in the finals 3-1 (25-14, 25-16, 24-26, 25-11) today at the Bradley Center in Mahwah.  With the first ECAC Championship victory in the history of the program, Ramapo wraps up the season at 21-8 overall.  Sophomore Larysa Iwaskiw was named the tournament Most Outstanding Player for her outstanding efforts on the court throughout the day.

Ramapo took a commanding lead in game one of the finals earning a 25-14 set one win over Manhattanville.  The Roadrunners were led by eight kills from Iwaskiw and 13 assists from Kaitlin Mac IverKristen Behrens picked up ten digs as the team hit a combined 14-46 with just two errors hitting .261.  Manhattanville was led on offense with four kills from Asia Reid as the team hit a combined .000 with eight kills on 48 attempts with eight errors.  Megan Quinabo dished out seven assists and Christina Nardi picked up 11 digs. 
 
In set two, the two teams traded points until the Roadrunners began to pull away with the set tied at 10-10, Ramapo went on a 7-2 run to jump ahead 17-12.  Ramapo pushed to collect the game two win, 25-16 to take a 2-0 match lead.  Rachel Selmore collected a team leading four kills in the game while Mac Iver assisted on eight additional points.  Behrens picked up 11 digs as the team went 12-49 with nine errors on offense hitting .061.  Meagan Dattoma led Manhattanville with two kills and Quinabo led the defense with six digs.  The Valiants collected five kills as a team and hit -.054 with seven errors on 37 attempts.
 
Set three went to Manhattanville after the two teams started off the set trading points.  Manhattanville pulled away 16-12 after a 12-12 tie, before Ramapo fell behind 20-14, and worked to close the gap, 19-20.  A kill from Iwaskiw tied the set at 21 all and Ramapo pulled ahead with another kill from Iwaskiw.  Down the stretch, a kill from Dattoma put the Valiants ahead 23-22 before Ramapo tied it up with yet another kill from Iwaskiw.  In the end it was Manhattanville that came out on top to close the gap, two games to one.  Mackey collected six kills and Dattoma added five as the team went 16-52 with just three errors hitting .250.  Quinabo dished out 13 assists and picked up five digs.  Iwaskiw led the Roadrunners with 13 kills and the team hit 19-46 with five errors hitting .304.  Mac Iver contributed 16 assists and Iwaskiw led the defense with seven digs.
 
The Roadrunners dominated what turned out to be the final set of the match as they took the set, 25-11, and the match, 3-1.  Iwaskiw led the team with 12 kills as the Roadrunners combined for 21-33 with just three errors hitting .545.  Mac Iver dished out 14 assists and Behrens picked up an additional four digs.  Manhattanville was led by Dattoma with two kills.  The Valiants combined hitting .107 with six kills and three errors on 28 attempts. 
 
Iwaskiw finished the championship match with 34 kills and Emily Guzman collected 11 as the team went 66-174 with 19 errors hitting .270 in the win.  Mac Iver assisted on 51 points and Iwaskiw led the team's defense with 17 digs.  Emily Harris picked up 14 digs in the win.  Manhattanville finished the night hitting .085 with a team combined 35 kills and 21 errors on 165 attempts.  Dattoma led with ten kills and Mackey added nine, while Quinabo dished out 28 attempts.  Nardi picked up a team leading 23 digs and Quinabo added 20 in the loss.  Manhattanville finishes the 2015 season at 19-10 overall.
 
In the first semi-final match-up of the day, the Ramapo College Roadrunners defeated the Pioneers from Alfred State, 3-1 (25-11, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21).  The Roadrunners were led by Iwaskiw who pounded out 22 of Ramapo's 55 kills.  The team hit .180 in the win as Selmore contributed 13 kills of her own.  Mac Iver dished out 41 assists and led the defense with Kristen Behrens who each picked up 12 digs.  Emily Harris and Sarah Mulligan each added 11 digs and Natalia Saavedra contributed ten digs of her own.  For Alfred, Bryanna Godfrey and Janae Hamilton led the way with 11 kills each as the team combined for 38 on 137 attempts with 21 errors hitting .124.  Lera Braun dished out 34 assists and Madison Webster led the team's defensive game with 16 digs.  Madison Szpaicher picked up 15 digs and Jess Padley and Braun added 13 and ten digs respectively.  Alfred wraps up the 2015 season standing at 28-11 overall.
 
Manhattanville advanced to the finals by defeating Kean University in the second semi-final match-up of the day, 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 18-25, 25-21).  Manhattanville was led by Kerry Mackey who posted 13 kills while Quinabo added 12 kills of his own.  The team combined for 46 kills on 186 attempts with 23 errors hitting .124 in the win.  Quinabo dished out 31 assists and Nardi picked up 37 digs.  For Kean, Kassie Hernandez led the way with 15 kills as the team combined for 45 with 194 attempts on 31 errors hitting .072.  Kendall Sonico dished out 22 assists and Lisa DeGroot led the team's defense with 34 digs.  Kean finishes the 2015 season with a record of 21-18.
