Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swim team defeated NJAC conference rival Montclair State University today, 171-91. The Roadrunners improve to 6-1 overall, 1-1 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks now stand at 3-9 overall and 0-3 in the NJAC.
The Roadrunners won 11 events during the dual meet. The 200-yard medley relay teams placed first and second overall. The 'A' relay team made up of Philip Sokoloff,
RJ Carillo,
Jose Alferez and
Andrew Ramos placed first overall with a time of 1:41.43. The 'B' relay team finished second (1:45.10), they were made up of
James Campbell,
Kevin Landmesser, Even Graziano and
Charlie May.
Peter Kellner captured a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle when he clocked in at 1:50.64 while Ramos and
Matt Stenger went 1-2 in the 100-yard backstroke. Ramos finished in 54.82 while Stenger touched the wall in 58.61. Carillo finished in first place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.81) while Ramapo took the top three spots in the 50-yard freestyle. May out-touched his teammates to come in first place (23.06) while Graziano (23.50) placed second and Ramos placed third (23.53).
Sokoloff (51.21), May (51.28) and Mayer (51.70) captured first through third place in the 100-yard freestyle while Kellner out-touched the Red Hawks in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.35 for a first place finish.
Chaz Cella placed first overall in the 500-yard freestyle while
Brian Henningsen placed second overall with a time of 5:10.32. The Roadrunners also won the 400-yard freestyle with a winning time of 3:22.26. The team was made up of Ramos, Carillo, Kellner and May.
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to rival William Paterson University for a NJAC conference meet starting at 6pm.
