Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swim team defeated the Hawks of New Paltz College, 159-103 today at the Adele and Reuben Thomas Swimming Pool on the Mahwah campus.
Ramapo's 200-yard medley relay team took home 1st place with a team effort from
Phil Sokoloff,
RJ Carillo,
Evan Graziano, and Drew Ramos. The four finished the race in 1:40.83 for 11 points. Sokoloff also won the 200-yard freestyle race in 1:50.34 for nine points, while Ramos and
Jose Alferez went 1-2 in the 100-yard backstroke, collecting 13 points for the Roadrunners. Ramos touched the poolside in 55.51 seconds, while Alferez clocked in at 56.67 seconds.
Carillo won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.22 for nine points, and Daniel Drozdewicz took 1st place in the 200-yard butterfly race, finishing in 2:05.55 for another nine points for Ramapo.
Sokoloff earned another nine points for Ramapo in the 100-yard freestyle. He touched the poolside in 50.76 seconds, while Alferez took home 1st place in the 200-yard backstroke clocking in at 2:01.93. The 200-yard breaststroke went to Carillo in 2:19.53, while
Kevin Landmesser placed 2nd in the same event clocking in at 2:25.26.
Graziano and Alferez went 1-2 in the 100-yard butterfly. Graziano finished the race in 55.18 seconds for nine points, while Alferez clocked in at 55.38 seconds for four points for the Roadrunners. Carillo also earned 1st place in the 200-yard IM. He finished the race in 2:07.22 for an additional nine points.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team, made up of Ramos,
Peter Kellner, Alferez, and Sokoloff, earned 1st place in the final race of the day, clocking in at 3:21.30. The four combined efforts to earn 11 points for Ramapo.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, January 24th, when they host Montclair State at 2pm. Prior to the meet the seniors will be honored.
