NOCK LEADS RAMAPO PAST #11 RICHARD STOCKTON, 65-63

Galloway, NJ:  Twenty-one points and a three-point basket from Frank Nock with just 1.5 seconds left on the clock, gave the Ramapo College men's basketball team a 65-63 win over NJAC rival Richard Stockton today on the road.  WIth the victory the Roadrunners improve to 10-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play.  Richard Stockton takes the loss falling to 12-2 overall, suffering their first loss in conference play at 6-1. 

The Roadrunners were down 62-63 with just 1.5 seconds left on the clock when Nock drained a long three-point goal to go ahead 65-63.  A last second effort from Armin Cane from 25-feet out fell short and hit the front rim giving the Roadrunners their tenth win of the season. The Ospreys have been ranked #11 in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll.

Ramapo jumped out to a 30-22 halftime lead after Ramapo pulled away with just under five minutes to play in the first half. The Roadrunners went on a 6-0 run to end the half capped off with a tip-in by Nick Stanek. Ramapo shot 45% (13-29) from the field, 33% (2-6) from beyond the three-point line and 100% (2-2) from the foul line. Stockton shot 29% (7-24) from the field, 30% (3-10) from beyond the three-point line and 71% (5-7) from the foul line.

In the second half, Stockton cut the lead to one with 16:55 on the clock, 31-32, before Nock and Ve'Shawn Polite scored back-to-back baskets to regain a five point lead, 36-31 (16:05). Over the next four minutes the Ospreys tied the game two different times on three-pointers from Josh Blamon and Zavon Johnson, the later knotting the two teams at 41 (12:06). Following another three by Blamon, which put the home team up by one, the Roadrunners went on a 9-0 run to take an eight point lead 55-47 with just under seven minutes to play. Stockton tied the game 58-58 with a tip-in from Marcus Harmon before taking a 60-58 lead off a basket from Anthony Woodard. Thomas Bonacum tied the game 60-60 before Cane nailed a three-pointer for Stockton 63-60 with 1:33 on the clock. Polite allowed the Roadrunners to come within one 62-63 with a made basket with 1:20 to play. Stockton would turnover the ball with 43 seconds on the clock allowing Ramapo to race down the court. A missed a basket with 14 seconds left from the Roadrunners went out of bound off Stockton allowing Ramapo to get the ball back with nine seconds to play, setting up the heroics from Nock.

Nock led the team with 21 points, including four three-pointers and five rebounds. Polite added 19 points and four rebound while Bonacum added eight points and four assists. Ramapo shot 45% (25-55) from the field, 36% (4-11) from beyond the three point line and 55% (11-20) from the foul line. The Roadrunners grabbed 32 rebounds and caused 13 Osprey turnovers.

Stockton was led by Marcus Harmon and Onnir Kendall with 16 points a piece while Cane tallied 15 points of his own. The Ospreys shot 37% (22-59) from the field, 34% (10-29) from beyond the three point line and 81% (9-11) from the foul line.

Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, January 14th when they host Rutgers Newark at 7:30pm at the Bradley Center.
