Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team fell to Union College today at the Athletic Center, 6-0. The Roadrunners now stand at 1-1 overall.
The Dutchwomen (1-2) took control with four goals in the first half. Sarah Medd recorded a hat-trick in the game for the Dutchwomen. She tallied two goals in the first half (14:07 & 29:40) and a third goal, the final goal of the game in the second half in the 59th minute. Jessie Mulvey scored the team's second goal of the first half off a pass from Rachel Andreana before Alexa Steriti got one past the Ramapo keeper on a penalty stroke at the end of the half, 4-0.
In the second half, Mulvey and Medd each collected goals, extending their lead to, 6-0. Union held a 20-6 advantage in shots and a 12-5 margin of penalty corners in the game.
Laura Aptowitz posted two saves for Union in 55:34 minutes in the net for Union while Danika Hornick (14:26) recorded one save.
For the Roadrunners,
Emily Kramer tallied eight saves (55:34) while
Emily Wisneski tallied three saves of her own in the final 14:26 of the game.
Ramapo returns to action this weekend at the Misercordia Tournament in Dallas, PA. The Roadrunners take on King's College on Friday before they go up against host Misercordia on Saturday afternoon.
