Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team defeated the College of Staten Island today, 3-1, at Jeff Maund Field. The Roadrunners improve to 13-7-1 overall while the Dolphins fall to 10-8.
Tyler Curto (2-0) earned the complete game win, scattering five hits and striking out two while
Scott Peschiani drove in all three runs for the Roadrunners.
With two outs in the bottom of the first, Ramapo scored two runs on three hits.
Ian Osterman and
Joe Venturino reach base with back-to-back singles and
Chris Werr was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Peschiani then dropped a single into center field, allowing Osterman and Venturino to come around and score, 2-0.
In the top of the third inning, the Dolphins scored one run to cut the lead in half, 2-1, with a sacrifice fly to center field. Ramapo added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, Peschiani worked a five-pitch walk as
Kyle Skoog touched home plate, 3-1.
Ryan Rinsky collected two hits on three at-bats while six other Roadrunners recorded one hit a piece.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow afternoon at home when they host St. Joseph's College-LI at 3:30pm.
