Staten Island, NY: The Ramapo College men's tennis team defeated the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island, 8-1 today in a non-conference match-up on the road. Ramapo improves to 4-3 overall while CSI falls to 2-5.
Justin Gerstl opened the match with a 6-6, 6-4 win at first singles, before
Evan Clayton, at second singles, defeated Ed Ruffe, 6-2, 6-0, to give Ramapo two points in singles action.
Jacob Khodakov earned a sweep at third singles, 6-0, 6-0, to put Ramapo ahead, 3-0.
Justin Bevilacqua,
Miles Murphy, and
John Seaman wrapped up singles action, each with a win of their own, to head into doubles play with a 6-0 advantage over the Dolphins. Bevilaqua posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at fourth singles and Murphy went 6-3, 6-0 over James Chuenpratum in the fifth singles spot. Seaman posted a 6-2, 6-1 win at sixth singles.
The Roadrunners took the second and third doubles matches as Khodakov and Bevilacqua teamed up to defeat the CSI pair, 9-8 (7-5) at second doubles. Murphy and
Philip Fuster got the final point for the Roadrunners in the third doubles match-up, 8-4.
The Roadrunners take on Albertus Magnus when they return to action on Saturday, April 5th in New Haven, CT at 1pm.
