Box Score Hoboken, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team fell to non-conference rival Stevens Institute of Technology today on the road, 6-1. The Roadrunners now stand at 10-4 overall while the Ducks improve to 10-4.
The Ducks scored single runs in the first, fifth and eighth innings while they scored three in the seventh to take a 6-0 lead.
The Roadrunners scored their lone run in the top of the ninth inning. Sophomore
Joe Venturino laced a double to left field, scoring pinch-runner rookie
Ryan Fallon from first base. Sophomore
Scott Paulus singled to lead off the inning before being lifted for Fallon.
Junior
Walker Larson (1-2) took the loss on the mound for the Roadrunners. He struck out eight and walked two while only surrendering three runs (two earned). He scattering five hits over the first 6.1 innings of the game. Rookie
Chris Beischer came in relief of Larson following an out in the seventh inning, facing three batters and surrendering two runs, one earned. Rookie
Tyler Curto was able to get the final two outs in the seventh inning, surrendering one run. Rookie
Kevin Checkett finished the game for the Roadrunners in the eighth, striking out one.
Venturino was 3-5 with one RBI to lead the Roadrunners at the plate while senior
Jose Garcia was 2-3 and Paulus was 2-2.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow on the road against at NJAC rival William Paterson University at 3:30pm.
