Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's tennis team defeated the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark, 8-1 today in a GNAC Conference match-up. With the victory the Roadrunners improve to 7-4 overall, and 2-0 in the conference, and sit in 1st place of the South Division on the conference.
Evan Clayton opened singles action with a 6-2, 7-5 win at first singles, as he defeated Ray Postadan of Rutgers Newark (3-5, 0-1 GNAC).
Jacob Khodakov took second singles, 6-1, 6-0, before Derence Tejero got the lone point of the day for the Scarlet Raiders defeating
Miles Murphy, 7-6, 7-6 in the third singles match-up.
Justin Bevilacqua took home a win at fourth singles and
John Seaman collected a win of his own in the fifth spot, downing Rutgers Newark, 6-0, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-3 respectively.
Philip Fuster wrapped up singles action with a 6-3, 6-0 win in the final singles match-up.
Moving to doubles, Clayton and Seaman defeated the Scarlet Raiders pair, 8-3, before Khodakov and Bevilacqua earned a point for the Roadrunners at second doubles, downing Tejero and Matt Palka, 8-2. Fuster and Murphy picked up the final point for the Roadrunners at third doubles earning an 8-1 win.
Ramapo returns to action on Monday, April 14th when they host John Jay College at 4pm.
