MSU DOWNS RAMAPO, 4-1

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College baseball team fell to NJAC rival Montclair State University today at Jeff Maund Field, 4-1. The Red Hawks (9-13, 4-4 NJAC) scored two runs each in the third and fourth innings, taking a 4-0 lead before Ramapo could get on the board.

Two walks led to two runs in the top of the third inning as Chris Reynolds and Philip Scott each drove home RBI's in the inning. In the fourth inning, Ryan Long and Connor Abreu posted back-to-back RBI's for the, 4-0, lead.

Ramapo got their lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Scott Peschiani led off with a double to right field and later scored on Jose Garcia's single up the middle, 4-1.

Jo Torregroz (2-2) went the distance for the Red Hawks, scattering eight hits while striking out three and walking two.

Tom Portesy (2-2) took the loss for the Roadrunners, working the first three innings. He struck out one, walked three while only surrendering one hit. Kyle Doerr game in for relief and worked the final six innings, he struck out four and scattered three hits.

Joe Venturino and Peschiani each went 2-4 in the game while Garcia was 1-5 with one RBI.

The Roadrunners return to action at Jeff Maund Field tomorrow morning when they host the College of New Jersey in a NJAC double header starting at 11:30am.
