Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team defeated Farmingdale State, 13-2, today at Jeff Maund Field. The Roadrunners improve to 10-3 overall while the Rams drop to 10-4.
Ramapo starting pitcher,
Kevin Lee, improved to 2-0 on the year. He struck out five while walking three in six innings of work. He worked a no-hit game through the fifth inning before giving up a lead-off hit in the the sixth.
Ramapo scored three runs, including the eventual game inning run in the bottom of the first inning.
John Capuano and
Joe Venturino each singled before
Ian Osterman walked to load the bases with one out. Following the second out,
Ryan Levine worked a bases loaded walk, scoring Capuano before Venturino scored on an infield error. Ryan Rinksy then worked another bases loaded walk allowing Osterman to score for the games third run, 3-0.
In the third, the Roadrunners scored four runs on four hits, Kelly recorded an RBI single before Levine scored on a pass ball.
Scott Shields laced a single to left field, scoring two, to take a 7-0 lead. Ramapo extended their lead to 13-0 through seven innings before the Rams got on the board with single runs in the eighth and ninth innings, 13-2.
Shields, Levine, Kelly and
James Hardgrove each drove home two RBI in the game. Capuano, Venturino, Levine, and
Garrett Luna each collected two hits a piece while Venturino scored two runs.
John Doherty came in relief to start the seventh inning. He fired 2.0 innings of work, striking out one and walking none while scattering one hit.
Kurt Rutmayer worked the final inning for the Roadrunners, he struck out two, including the final out of the game while giving up only two hits.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to non-conference rival Stevens Institute of Technology for a 3:30pm game.
