Box Score Bronx, NY: The Ramapo College baseball team pounded out 14 hits in a 12-2 road win over Lehman College today. The Roadrunners improve to 9-3 overall while the Lightning stand at 1-10 overall.
Lehman got on the board first with one run before Ramapo took the lead for good in the top of the second inning. With one out
Ryan Levine doubled before
Garrett Luna and
Jose Garcia each walked to load the bases.
Dan McEldowney then earned a bases loaded walk, scoring Levine for the Roadrunner's first run. Luna came around to score on
Scott Peschiani's fielder's choice to take a 2-1 lead.
In the top of the third inning, the Roadrunners scored nine runs on nine hits.
Scott Paulus drove home
Joe Venturino with a RBI single before Luna drove home
Ian Osterman with a single of his own. Venturino singled to lead off the inning while Osterman laced a double to left field. Garcia collected a RBI fielder's choice as pinch runner
Rich Policastro crossed home plate. Garcia then stole second base before Peschiani drove home Garcia and and Levine.
Kyle Skoog singled home Peschiani before Osterman blasted his second home run of the season, recording three RBI as Venturino and Skoog scored, 11-1.
Lehman scored one run in the bottom of the third and Ramapo scored one run in the top of the sixth to take a 12-2 lead. With two outs in the sixth, Skoog ripped a double, scoring Rob DeAngelis.
The Roadrunners held Lehman to just six hits in the win.
Kurt Rutmayer worked the first three innings for Ramapo. He scattered four hits while striking out one.
Chris Beischer earned his first win of the season. Beischer (1-0) struck out four over four innings of work, while only surrendering one hit.
Keith Jennings struck out three in the final two innings while he walked none and surrendered only one hit.
Levine and Venturino were both perfect at the plate tonight, Levine was 3-3 with two runs scored while Venturino was 2-2 with two runs scored. Osterman was 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBI. Peschiani was 2-3 with one run scored and three RBI while Skoog was 2-5 with one run scored and two RBI.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, March 29th, in their home opener against NJAC rival #8/15 Rowan University. The doubleheader begins at 11:30am. Live stats can be
