Box Score Auburndale, FL: The Ramapo College baseball team came back twice to defeat the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth today, 8-6. The Roadrunners improve to 4-1 overall while the Corsairs fall to 3-2 overall.
The Roadrunners were down, 3-1, heading into the sixth inning; before
Kevin Kelly blasted a three-run home run over the left field wall to take a 4-3 lead.
Joe Venturino and
Scott Paulus each reach base with singles earlier in the inning prior to the home run.
UMass-Dartmouth scored one run in the sixth inning to tie the game at four before the Roadrunners scored one run in the seventh to regain the lead, 5-4.
Garrett Luna drove home Venturino from second base with an RBI single to left center.
The Corsairs took the lead back in the bottom of the eight inning with two runs on four hits, 6-5, before Ramapo came back in the top of the ninth. Paulus laced a single through the right side of the infield to score
Scott Peschiani and Venturino to come within one. They reached base on back to back singles earlier in the inning. Paulus would later score on a throwing error for the 8-6 lead.
Nicholas Thorgersen earned the win on the mound for the Roadrunners while
Walker Larson earned his first save. Venturino and Paulus each went 3-5 while Kelly went 2-4 with three RBI.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow with two nine inning games. They take on Eastern Connecticut State University at 2:30 pm and then Denison at 6:00pm at the Russ Matt Tournament.
