Mahwah, NJ: In its final game of the 2014 season, Ramapo College fell to #12 Montclair State University, 0-5 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference field hockey match-up today at the Athletic Center. With the loss the Roadrunners wrap up the season standing at 2-16 overall, 0-6 in the conference. Montclair improves to 13-4 overall, and 4-2 in the conference as Head Coach Beth Gottung gets her 200th career coaching victory.
In the first half of the game, in the 12th minute, Danielle Butrico collected her 8th goal of the season, off a pass from Gianna Moglino, to put the Red Hawks up, 1-0. The goal was the lone goal of the first 35 minutes of play where MSU out shot the Roadrunners 17-2.
Emily Kramer made eight saves in the first half for Ramapo while Rebecca Brattole made just one
for MSU.In the second half, Montclair's offense was sparked by a goal from Kaitlyn Struss at 48:16, off a cross from Butrico, to give the Red Hawks a two goal advantage. Butrico collected back-to-back goals at 54:01 and 59:37, before Caitin Caliguire ripped a shot past the Ramapo goaltender scoring her first goal of the season, to wrap up the game, 5-0 over Ramapo. Caliguire's goal came with just 44 seconds to play in the game.
Kramer made 11 additional saves in the second half and Montclair went untested in goal, as the Red Hawks out shot Ramapo once again, 19-1.
