MEN'S SWIMMING TAKES DOWN RIVAL MSU

Montclair, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's swim team defeated NJAC rival Montclair State University in a tightly contested swim meet, 135-127. The Roadrunners improve to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks fall to 7-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

The meet was moved to Montclair on Friday evening after a malfunctioning boiler in Ramapo's Bradley Center caused the pool water to drop to below normal temperatures.

The Roadrunners won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.50. The team was made up of Philip Sokoloff, RJ Carillo, Anthony Cusmano and Philip Mathys. Brian Henningsen placed second overall in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:34.93 while Sokoloff won the 100-yard backstroke as he out touched the Red Hawks in 54.84. Carillo clocked in at 1:02.63 for a first place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke. Mathys placed second overall in the 100-yard freestyle (49.12) while the Roadrunners took the first places in the 200-yard backstroke. Sokoloff (2:02.67), Peter Kellner (2:04.16) and Anthony Stanton (2:04.26) all finished 1-2-3 in the race. Carillo took home another first place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:21.76. In the 200-yard IM, Ramapo took home the first and second place ribbons. Kevin Fries placed first overall in 2:04.43 while Kevin Guo finished right behind him in second place, 2:04.98.

The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday when they host NJAC rival William Paterson University at 6pm.
