Box Score Camden, NJ: The Ramapo College Men's Basketball team fell to Rutgers-Camden University today on the road in an NJAC match-up, 83-80. The Roadrunners fall to 7-11 overall, 4-7 in the NJAC and Rutgers-Camden improved to 4-14 overall, 2-9 in the conference.
Down by 14 points just nine minutes into the first half, Ramapo went on a nine point run.
Frank Nock hit a three pointer to start a the run before
Terry Hicks brought the Roadrunners within five with a steal and layup from, 25-20. With 3:10 remaining in the first half Ramapo took the lead from the Raptors on a layup from Nock, 34-35. The Raptors regained a four point lead with 36 seconds left with a three point shot by Steven Schneider, 43-39.
George Sapp closed the gap to one for the Roadrunners right before heading into the locker room with a three pointer of his own, 43-42. Ramapo shot 52% (13-25) in the first half from the floor, 46% (6-13) from beyond the three point line and 90% (10-11) from the foul line.
In the second half the score was tied eight times with Rutgers-Camden never leading by more than seven points. The Roadrunners came back and tied the game, 80-80, with 1:14 remaining on a jumper from Jermaine Emmanuel. Rutgers-Camden held Ramapo down the stretch from scoring while the Raptors scored the final three points of the game to come away with a three point victory, 83-80.
For Ramapo, Hicks lead the Roadrunners with 21 points and three assists. Nock posted a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds along with five assists while Emmanuel recorded 18 points of his own. Ramapo shot 47% (27-57) from the floor, 48% (12-25) from behind the three point line and 93% (14-15) from the foul line.
For Rutgers-Camden, John Tatem recorded 29 points and ten rebounds while Alex Smart contributed with 18 points and nine rebounds. The Raptors shot 45% (27-60) from the floor, 38% (6-16) from the three point line, and 66% (23-35) from the free throw line.
The Roadrunners return to action at home Wednesday, January 29 for a conference match-up against Kean University at 7:30 pm.
