Box Score Jersey City, NJ: After falling behind two goals to none, the Ramapo College men's soccer team scored the final three goals of the game to defeat the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University, 3-2 in double overtime. With the New Jersey Athletic Conference victory, the Roadrunners improve to 4-3-1 overall, and 1-1 in the conference. The Gothic Knights fall to 4-4 overall, and are handed their first conference loss of the season to fall to 1-1.
Despite a 31-27 advantage in shots, the Gothic Knights were unable to hold onto a 2-0 lead, which they held after just 35 minutes of play, and were defeated by Ramapo, with senior
Dave Przybylo netting the game winner in overtime.
This was the fourth overtime game for Ramapo this season, and the first for NJCU.
After jumping ahead 1-0 in the 20th minute with an own goal, NJCU sophomore Tyler Krychkowski scored his first collegiate goal in the 35th minute off an assist from junior midfielder Andrew Carvalhoso, to put NJCU up 2-0.
Przybylo cashed in on a penalty kick in the 38th minute to make it a one-goal game at halftime, before rookie
Kevin Monaghan netted his first collegiate goal off an assist from fellow rookie
Nick Brancato. Przybylo won it in the 107th minute after winning a loose ball off a corner kick.
In net for NJCU, junior goalkeeper Ruben Morales made eight saves in 106:11. Ramapo senior
Steve Monaghan finished with five stops.
NJCU had a 5-1 advantage in shots in the first 10-minute overtime, but three were blocked by the RCNJ defense. Early in the 107th minute, Przybylo quickly played a corner kick and after a deflection, won possession and scored the golden-goal winning it for Ramapo.
The Roadrunners will take on Rutgers Newark on Saturday, September 28th at 7:30pm on the road.
