ECONN GETS RAMAPO IN DOUBLE OT

Box Score Willimantic, CT:  With just 85 seconds left in double overtime, the Eastern Connecticut men's soccer team propelled past the Ramapo College Roadrunners, 2-1, with a goal from sophomore Tim Jennison.

The two teams traded goals just 31 seconds apart in the opening half, but the game, played at Thomas Nevers Field, remained 1-1 after the 90 minute regulation, forcing sudden death overtime.  EConn prevailed, with Jennison's first goal of the season, earning their second win of the year to improve to 2-1-1 overall.  Ramapo falls to 2-2-1.

Mark Richards gave Eastern the lead in the 20th minute, but senior forward Dave Przybylo followed 31 seconds later with a 25-yard blast for his second goal of the year, to knot the game at 1-1.

The Roadrunners had a potential game winner in overtime from Abu Bestawros, but an effort from the EConn goaltender, along with a defensive clear from Mike Radlbeck, kept the net clear.

Both teams were credited with 12 shots in the game. Senior netminder Steve Monaghan made three saves.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 18th when they host Medgar Evers at 4pm at the Athletic Center.
