NEW PALTZ CRUISES PAST RAMAPO

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  Ramapo College dropped a 1-11 decision today to the Hawks of New Paltz in a non-conference field hockey match-up at the Athletic Center.  The Roadrunners remain defeated at 0-4 on the year, while the Hawks improve to 3-2.
 
It didn't take long for the Hawks to strike as they posted their first goal of the game at 1:16 when Kayla McKeveny posted her second goal of the season, unassisted.  Dani Ackerman, the Hawks' leading scorer, netted back-to-back goals at 8:04 and 9:13 to give the Hawks a 3-0 advantage.  Her first goal was assisted by Lauren Link.   Ackerman assisted on New Paltz's next two goals, both scored by Danielle Conklin, before Alex Gallo and Alyssa Stock each posted unassisted goals at 27:57 and 29:04 respectively, to give the Hawks a 7-0 edge.  The Roadrunners finally got on the board with just under two minutes to play in the half when Kelsey Lawrence ripped a shot past the Hawks' goaltender to close the gap, 1-7.
 
The Hawks out shot the Roadrunners 14-3 in the first 35 minutes of play while Alicia Lyons made six saves in the cage for Ramapo.  Alayna Wageman made one save in the cage for the Hawks.
 
In the second half, the Roadrunners were held scoreless while the Hawks posted an additional four goals to earn the 11-1 victory.  Conklin recorded three straight at 42:52, 45:16, and 51:33, while Erin Landy got her first of the season at 65:25.  New Paltz again held an advantage in shots, this time 8-3, and Wageman made two additional saves.  Emily Kramer made three saves in the final 35 minutes of play for the Roadrunners.

New Paltz held a 13-5 advantage in penalty corners in the game.
 
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow, September 14th when they host the Devils of FDU-Florham at 1:00pm.
