Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The #9/14 Ramapo College baseball team fell to non-conference foe the University of Scranton today, 8-2. The Roadrunners now stand at 16-4 overall while the Royals improve to 16-11.
Ramapo took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when
John Capuano singled up the middle and went to third on
Christian Spurr's infield ground out, as the the Royals left third base open during the play. He later scored on
Scott Paulus' single for the 1-0 lead. The Roadrunners added one run in the fourth when
Ryan Arnone ripped a double down the left field line and later came around to score on
Dave Jacob's infield single, 2-0.
The Royals got one run back in the sixth before they took the lead in the lead in the seventh. In the seventh, Scranton scored four runs on three hits for a 5-2 lead. The Royals added one run in the eighth and two runs in the ninth, extending their lead to 8-2.
Each team belted out 11 hits in the game while Ramapo left 13 men on base. For the Royals, starting pitcher Matt Marinelli (2-0) went the distance, striking out two and walking two.
For Ramapo,
Jimmy Knight took the loss in relief as he gave up four runs. Capuano and Spurr both went 3-5 in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow when they travel to Saint Joseph's Long Island for a 4:00pm game.
