Hilton Head, SC: The Ramapo College men's tennis team opened the 2013 spring season today sweeping Frostburg State, 9-0. With the victory the men open the year at 1-0 overall.
Justin Gerstl teamed up with
Jacob Khodakov at first doubles, earning an 8-4 win, before
Evan Clayton and
Matt Giuliari paired up at second doubles posting an 8-3 win over the Frostburg pair.
Jacob Wyble and
Miles Murphy wrapped up doubles play with an 8-2 win in the third spot for a 3-0 Roadrunner lead.
In singles action, Gerstl held strong at first singles defeating Aaron Littlejohn, 6-2, 6-2, before Clayton earned a 6-0 sweep, followed by a 6-1 win, taking the point for Ramapo at second singles. Khodakov beat Arun Pant, 6-2, 7-5 at third singles, before Murphy earned a Ramapo point at fourth singles, taking down Paul Rooke, 6-1, 6-2. Giuliari and
John Seaman wrapped up singles action with 6-0, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-0 wins at fifth and sixth singles respectively.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow, March 19th, when they take on Roosevelt University at 8am.
