Dave Przybylo teamed up for a game winning goal with 14:30 left to play to lead the Roadrunners to their second New Jersey Athletic Conference victory of the season today in Mahwah. With the 2-1 victory over Rutgers Newark, Ramapo improves to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC.
Rutgers Newark (5-4 overall, 1-2 NJAC) held a slight 7-6 advantage in shots in the first half of play but senior
David Lo Bue and Matt Broomall of Rutgers Newark posted three and four saves respectively keeping the nets clear for a 0-0 match-up heading into the intermission.
It took just four minutes in the second half for the Scarlet Raiders to get on the board when Bryan Meza posted an unassisted goal giving his team a one goal lead. Santaniello posted his first of two at 67:25 off a penalty kick, before he teamed up with Przybylo under ten minutes later to go ahead, 2-1.
LoBue made three addidtional saves in the last 45 minutes of play helping his team to the one goal, 2-1 NJAC win. Broomall added four more saves in the final half but gave up the two goals falling short in NJAC action.
For the game, Ramapo held a slight 16-15 advantage in shots and 8-7 in corner kicks.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 26th when they travel to NJAC foe, William Paterson, for a 7pm match-up in Wayne.
