BRUNO, SHEA LEAD RAMAPO IN OVERTIME WIN, 2-1

Box Score Danbury, CT:  The Ramapo College field hockey team earned their first win of the 2012 season tonight with a 2-1 overtime road victory over Western Connecticut State University.

The Roadrunners improve to 1-2 overall while the Colonials fall to 2-3 overall.

Ramapo struck first with 8:38 on the clock when senior captain Katie Bruno struck the back of the cage off a pass from senior Samanatha Gardner to take a 1-0 lead.

Late in the second half, Western Connecticut would tie the game with a goal at 55:16 from Jenny Cappello. Neither team could put the ball away in the second half, sending the game into overtime.

Ramapo ou tshot the Colonials in the overtime period 3-0 including their game winning goal from Bruno off a corner and pass from rookie Dana Shea for the golden goal victory.

Senior Rebecca Elliott earned the win in the cage for the Roadrunners as she posted three saves in 75:14 minutes of work.

Ramapo returns to action this Saturday on the road as they take on non-conference rival New Paltz at 1:00pm.
