#10 MSU DOWNS RAMAPO, 7-1

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College field hockey team fell to #10 Montclair State University today at the Athletic Center, 7-1. The Roadrunners now stand at 0-2 overall, and 0-1 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks improve to 4-1 overall, 1-0 in the conference

Senior Kate Norgard got the Red Hawks on the board when they took advantage of a penalty corner at 9:46 into the game. She was assisted by junior Brooke Mullings.  Senior Frances Schaefer added a goal at 10:05, once again assisted by Mullings before Ramapo got on the board.

Senior Katie Bruno took a pass from senior Victoria Ahlers as Ramapo capitalized on a penalty corner to cut the lead, 2-1. MSU scored two more times in the half to extend their lead, 4-1.

Junior Sierra Rauchbach tallied two goals in the second half for the Red Hawks while junior Jennifer Tafro added her second goal of the game in the 63rd minute for a 7-1 score in favor of MSU.

The Red Hawks out shot Ramapo, 29-3 in the game while they earned 23 corners to the Roadrunners' four.

For the Roadrunners, Rebecca Elliott posted nine saves in the loss.

The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow night when they travel to Western Connecticut State University for a 7pm game.
