Box Score Lakewood, NJ: Ramapo College (34-14) plated the game-winning run in the top of the ninth inning to defeat Neumann University, 6-5, in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday evening at FirstEnergy Park.
After defeating the Knights for the second time in the regional, the fourth-seeded Roadrunners battle top-seeded Keystone College for the second time, as the two schools now face-off in an elimination game on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Fifth-seeded Neumann closes out its first appearance in the NCAA tournament after posting a 32-15 record.
With the game 5-5 after eight innings, third baseman
Christian Spurr drove in the game-winning run after a 12-pitch at-bat with two outs. Left fielder
Dave Jacob had a one-out single and advanced to second on a passed ball and moved over to third on the groundout. After fouling off six straight pitches, Spurr singled through the left side to bring home Jacob with the go-ahead run.
Neumann had the tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth, as centerfielder Dave Kalash led off the inning with a walk and immediately stole second base. After Ramapo recorded the first outs on strikeouts, Kalash advanced to third on a wild pitch, before Ramapo closed out the win with a hard grounder to Spurr at third base.
The Roadrunners got on the scoreboard early, taking an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. Jacob led off the game with a walk, advanced to second on a balk and moved over to third on a fly out, before scoring on a wild pitch.

Lee Rozins and designated hitter Matt Hancock, who reached on a single and walk, respectively.
The score remained that way until the sixth inning when the Knights tied the game with three runs on three hits. The Knights loaded the bases following a lead-off walk by Bobby Callan and one-out singles by left fielder Bill Flores and catcher Bill Pace. Callan scored on the RBI groundout by first baseman Derek Etsell, and second baseman Kevin Flanigan followed with a two-run double to tie the game at 3-3.
Ramapo broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the eighth inning, as Spurr led off the inning with a double and scored the go-ahead run on the RBI single through the right side by Hancock. Hancock would extend the lead to 5-3 later in the inning on the run-scoring single by shortstop
Marco Carolla.
The Knights tied the game in the bottom of the inning on the two-out, two-run double by Anthony LaCava, scoring Pace and Flanigan, who singled and walked, earlier in the inning.
Spurr finished with two hits, one RBI and one run scored, while Jacob and Hancock each had one hit and two runs scored.
Senior right-hander
Matt Jenisch (5-2) picked up the win after allowing no hits and struck out two in the final 1.1 innings of the game.
For Neumann, Flanigan was 2-of-3 with two RBI and one run scored. Pace was 2-of-4 with two runs scored.
