Box Score Lakewood, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team defeated Neumann University today, 10-6 at the 2012 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament hosted by Kean University at FirstEnergy Park. Ramapo (32-13) will now play at tomorrow at 4:45pm against the winner of #1 Keystone College and #8 Daniel Webster.
The Roadrunners got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when junior
Dave Jacob ripped a single up the middle before coming around to score on senior
Matthew Hancock's double off the left center field wall, 1-0.
Nuemann University came back to tie the game in the top of the second inning, 1-1 when a run came around to score on a Ramapo throwing error.
Ramapo regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth. Senior
Marco Carolla singled to left field and stole second base. With two outs senior
Joseph Somma drilled a single up the middle allowing Carolla to come around and score, 2-1. The Knights came back to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly by Marty Sessa, 2-2.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning Ramapo plated two runs to take a 4-2 lead.
Dave Jacob was hit by a pitch with one out before he moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore
John Capuano. Senior Matt Hancock laced a single up the middle that hit off pitcher's foot as the ball sailed towards second allowing Jacob to come around to score. Rookie
Ian Osterman ripped a single to right field as junior

Nuemann plated one run in the top of the eighth as Matt Grossi singled home Derrek Etsell to come within one, 4-3. Somma would score the Roadrunner's fifth run of the game, 5-3 after he singled to right field with one out and later scored on a squeeze bunt from rookie
Anthony Vinci. Capuano singled home pinch runner senior
Lee Rozins before the bases were loaded with two outs. With a 3-2 count, Hancock ripped a double to right centerfield driving in three runs for Ramapo to take a 9-3 lead before Carolla singled to center allowing pinch runner rookie
Kevin Case to cross home plate, 10-3.
The Knights scored three runs in the top of the ninth before Ramapo could record the final out of the game to claim the victory, 10-6.
Starting pitcher
Travis Zilg earned the win improving to 7-3 with four strikeouts and one walk. He scattered five hits while allowing two runs to score, one earned. Hancock finished the game 3-5 with five RBI while Spurr was 2-4 with two runs scored.
