Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The #24/28 Ramapo College baseball team fell to NJAC rival #10/13 Kean University today at Jeff Maund Field, 10-3. The Roadrunners stand at 27-10 overall, 9-7 in the NJAC while the Cougars improve to 27-9, 12-4 in the conference.
Kean took a 6-0 lead before Ramapo got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning, 6-2.
Matthew Hancock led off the inning with a single before
Ian Osterman and
Chris Werr walked to load the bases. Hanock later scored when Kean turned a 4-6-3 double plate for Ramapo's first run of the game.
John Capuano beat out an infield single to third base allowing Osterman to touch home plate, 6-2.
The Cougars got one run back in the top of the fifth inning, an unearned run when John O'Connor scored on an infield error, 7-2. Ramapo added their final run of the game in the seventh inning. The bases were loaded with one out as
Dave Jacob's infield hit to second base was misplayed allowing everyone to move up a base and
Dan Mauriello to score, 7-3. Kean added single runs in the last three innings of play, extending their lead to 10-3.
Ramapo collected ten hits in the game while leaving ten runner's on base while Kean had 15 hits as they left 11 on base. The Cougars were able to turn four double plays in the game.
Mike Russo earned his fifth win of the season as he went 5.1 innings with five strikeouts and four walks while Charles Thielmann earned the save, striking out two over the final 3.2 innings of work.
Mark Delannoy (1-2) surrendered six runs (five earned) on seven hits over 3.1 innings of work. Seven Roadrunners collected one hit a piece while
Anthony Vinci was 3-4 in the game.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow in their final NJAC regular season games of the year. They will travel to NJAC rival Rutgers-Camden University for a double header at 11:30 AM.
