Box Score Winter Haven, FL:  Junior Travis Zilg tossed a complete game shutout as the Ramapo College baseball team defeated Westfield State University, 5-0 today at the Russ Matt Tournament. The Roadrunners now stand at 6-0 on the season while the Owls fall to 4-6 overall.

Zilg (2-0) went the distance as he struck out four and walked only one while scattering seven hits. Matthew Hancock led the team as the plate as he went 2-3 with three RBI while John Capuano went 2-4 with one run scored and one RBI.

Ramapo jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Dave Jacob and Capuano each reached on errors before they moved up into scoring position on a double steal. The Owls recorded back to back strikeouts before Hancock came up big with a single to right field, allowing Jacob and Capuano to cross home plate.

The Roadrunners added one run in the sixth as Dan Moreno scored an unearned run on Hancock's single to the outfield before they scored one run each in the seventh and eighth innings. Moreno recorded a sacrifice fly in the 7th to score Jacob and Capuano singled home Joseph Somma who walked earlier in the 8th inning to go ahead, 5-0.

The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow against Oglethrope University beginning at 4:00 PM.
