BARRETTA, ELLIOTT LEAD RAMAPO OVER WEST CONN, 1-0

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team extended it's win streak to five games with a 1-0 shutout win over Western Connecticut State University today at the Athletic Center.

The Roadrunners now stand at 5-0 on the year while the Colonials fall to 3-2.

Ramapo ripped eight shots in the first half to West Conn's three but the half remained scoreless. In the second half the Roadrunners looked like they got on the board on a goal by Katie Bruno but the goal was called back.

It wasn't until the Roadrunners' leading goal scorer, Amanda Barretta took off up the wing on a breakaway and ripped a shot into the back of the cage with 11:10 remaining in the game that Ramapo got on the board. Rebecca Elliott posted four saves in the game as the Ramapo defense held the Colonials the rest of the way for the win.

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, September 17th when the host non-conference foe FDU-Florham at 4:00 pm. The game will be played following the Ramapo vs. TCNJ men's soccer NJAC opener at 1:00 pm.
