RAMAPO, FARMINGDALE SPLIT IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION

Farmingdale, NY: The Ramapo College baseball team split a non-conference double header tonight with Farmingdale State University. The Rams won the first game, 5-4 while the Roadrunners came back and won game two, 3-2.

The Roadrunners improve to 30-12 while the Rams now stand at 24-13. This is Ramapo's first 30 win season under the direction of Head Coach Rich Martin and the first since the 1985 season when the eam finished 30-10.

In game one, Ramapo scored two runs in the top of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. Pat Driscoll singled to center field to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Lee Rozins before moving to third on a single by Kevin Knox. With two outs Christian Spurr ripped a single up the middle plating Driscoll and Knox before the Rams retired the side.

The Rams scored one run in the fourth before Ramapo added one run to extend their lead, 3-1 in the top of the fifth inning. Rob Dimperio beat out an infield single before he moved to third on a single to right center by Matt Hancock, the Ram's third baseman misplayed the ball coming in from the outfield allowing Dimperio to score. The Rams got the run back in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI double to come with in one, 3-2.

The Roadrunners added one run in the top of the sixth on an RBI single from Rozins, 4-2 before the Rams would come back and score three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 5-4 win.

In game two, Ramapo scored the first two of the game in the top of the fifth inning. With two outs Knox walked and stole second to put himself in scoring position. Spurr singled through the left side of the infield, plating Knox before Hancock singled to right field putting runners on first and second. Dan Mauriello then ripped a single up the middle as Spurr scored, 2-0.

In the top of the sixth inning, with two outs Joseph Somma doubled to right center field before Driscoll singled up the middle with the eventual game winning RBI, 3-0. In the bottom of the seventh, the Rams scored two runs before Ramapo recorded the final out of the game on a ground out to short.

Frank Baldini improved to 5-0 on the season while Matt Jenisch earned his fourth save in relief. Driscoll led Ramapo in the double header as he finished 4-7 with one run scored and one RBI. Hancock was 3-7 while Spurr collected three hits and drove in three RBI.

Ramapo will wait to hear if they earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament when the field is announced Monday, May 16th.
