RED HAWKS SLIP PAST RAMAPO, 2-1

Mahwah, NJ:  The Montclair State University men's soccer team defeated NJAC rival Ramapo College today at the Athletic Center, 2-1 in the final regular season game of the season. The Roadrunners close out the year with a 7-8-2 overall record, 1-5-1 overall while the Red Hawks improve to 14-2-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the NJAC.

Montclair State clinches the #3 seed in the 2011 NJAC Men's Soccer Tournament; they will play next Wednesday at 2pm, their opponent is to be determined. The NJAC brackets will be announced on www.njacsports.com later tonight.

Jon Christensen put the Red Hawks on the board in the 22nd minute of the game when he chipped past the Ramapo keeper; he was assisted by Kevin Zalewski. Dan Mendoza tallied his team leading 12th goal of the year in the 60th minute to take a 2-0 lead before Ramapo would get on the board. Todd Kadell scored his first goal of the season on a header into the back of the net off a pass by Danny Walsh in the 75th minute to come within one of tying the game. Ramapo out shot the Red Hawks in the second half 11-5 and held a 20-16 advantage for the game. MSU posted a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Anthony Rogic recorded ten saves in the game for MSU. Steve Monaghan posted three saves and Peter Bylsma had one for the Roadrunners.
