BARRETTA POWERS RAMAPO PAST NEW PALTZ WITH OVERTIME GOAL, 3-2

Mahwah, NJ: Amanda Barretta scored just 47 seconds into the overtime period to propel the Ramapo College field hockey team to a 3-2 victory. With the win the Roadrunners set a new program mark for wins in a season with their tenth.

Ramapo (10-4) got on the board early in the first half (2:04) when Jayne Manigrasso scored her 11th goal of the season on a penalty stroke for the 1-0 lead. The Hawks (8-8) tied the game at one with a goal by Alicia Aragosa, her third of the year; she was assisted by Stacey Miller late in the first half (26:35).

Manigrasso put the Roadrunners in the lead with her second goal of the game off a pass from Barretta to go up 2-1 in the 33rd minute. In the second half, New Paltz tied the game as Amy Lee slipped a pass to Aragosa who tapped it into the back of the net, her second of the game and fourth of the season for the 2-2 tie. The game would remain scoreless, although both teams had chances to put the game away. Ramapo was denied a goal off a second penalty stroke when Antonija Pjetri saved Manigrasso's shot. The Hawks had chances to score, as Rebecca Elliott was there to make the save. It wasn't until the overtime period where Barrettta would rip a shot past the goalie off a pass from Samantha Gardner for the 3-2 Ramapo win.

Both teams finished with 17 shots in the game as well as 14 corners while Pjetri and Elliott each posted nine saves.

Ramapo returns to action when they host non-conference foe Moravian College on Thursday at 4:00pm.
