Jayne Manigrasso and
Amanda Barretta led the Ramapo field hockey team to a 5-2 non-conference victory over Keystone College today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners improve to 6-3 overall while the Giants drop to 3-5.
Manigrasso put Ramapo in the lead with her fourth goal of the season, unassisted at 19:59 into the first half before Barretta teamed up with
Aimee Herbert to tally her team leading tenth goal of the year (24:10) off a penalty corner for a 2-0 lead.
The Giants would get one back late in the first half when Kelsey Drozda hit the back of the cage on a penalty stroke, 2-1. In the second half, Keystone would tie the game at two with a goal by Brackney Brotzman, her second of the season.
Ramapo was awarded a penalty corner before
Katie Bruno tallied her sixth goal of the season; she was assisted by
Victoria Ahlers (49:43). Manigrasso added her second goal of the game off a pass from Barretta to extend the Ramapo lead at 4-2 before
Nicole Kaspar added Ramapo's fifth goal of the game at 63:30, she was assisted by
Rebecca Penhaker.
Ramapo out shot the Giants, 23-7 while they held a 17-2 advantage in penalty corners. Ramapo's
Rebecca Elliott posted four saves in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to NJAC rival The College of New Jersey on October 4th for a 7pm game.
