New York, NY: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team won three matches today at the Baruch College Tournament. The Roadrunners now stand at 9-2 overall.
The Roadrunners won a hard fought 3-2 (25-27, 18-25, 25-16, 25-16, 15-8) match against the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Junior
Michelle Ferrari (Marlton, NJ) led Ramapo with 23 kills as she hit .321 while
Elizabeth Steck (Marlton, NJ) tallied a team high 33 digs.
Meagan Taege (Manahawkin, NJ) posted 16 kills and seven digs while
Maura Burke (Wyckoff, NJ) added 13 kills and two blocks.
Tiffany Fischer (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) dished out 46 assists and posted a team high four service aces in the match. The Roadrunners hit .253 as they recorded 60 total kills and 11 service aces.
Head Coach Rob Pichardo earned his 200th career coaching victory at Ramapo, with a 3-1 (25-23, 25-27, 16-25, 25-19) over host Baruch. Ferrari and Taege combined for 32 kills while Ferrari tallied 14 digs. Steck posted 11 digs while Fischer dished out 40 assists, two kills and nine digs. Burke added seven kills of her own and five total blocks in the win.
In their final match of the day the Roadrunners defeated Wesley College, 3-1 (19-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-9). Ferrari once again led Ramapo with 18 kills and ten digs in the match. Taege added eight kills, three service aces and six digs while
Julia Tuzio (Paramus, NJ) recorded five kills, two assists, two service aces and 11 digs. The Roadrunners hit .264 in the match with 46 kills and seven service aces.
Ramapo returns to action when they host NJAC rival Montclair State University on Thursday at 7:00 PM at the Bradley Center.
