Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team wrapped up the 2010 regular season defeating the Cyclones of Centenary College in a match up at Jeff Maund Field, 4-3. The Roadrunners end the season with a 19-17 overall record, while the Cyclones fall to 20-19.
The Roadrunners took an early lead in the first inning when senior
Joey Cacchiola (Union, NJ) ripped a double to center field to bring in sophomore
Kevin Knox (Matawan, NJ) who reached earlier on a single to left field and stole second. Rookie Mike Hansford (Hillsborough, NJ) singled through the right side to plate Cacchiola to take a 2-0 lead.
The Cyclones plated one run in the second inning, 2-1 before the Roadrunners picked up another run in the bottom of the second to go up 3-1, and another in the third to take a 4-1 advantage. Nick DiGirolamo (Dumont, NJ) crossed the plate in the second inning while Cacchiola scored a run in the third for the two run lead.
In the sixth inning the Cyclones plated one run from Wright to close the gap, 4-2 and the final run in the ninth to come within one run before the Roadrunners closed out the game, 4-3.
Cacchiola was 4-4 with two runs scored and one RBI and Knox was 3-5 with one run scored and one RBI. Rookie
PJ Cerreto (Paramus, NJ) took the win and improved to 4-2 with five strike outs, he walked three. Senior
Antonio Imbimbo took his second save of the season with two strike outs.
