RAMAPO FALLS TO FDU-FLORHAM, 10-5

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team fell to the Devils of FDU-Florham, 10-5 today at Jeff Maund Field. The Roadrunners fall to 7-9 overall while the Devils improve to 18-3.

Junior Michael McGuckin (Bayonne, NJ)'s sacrifice fly to right field plated rookie Michael Hansford (Hillsborough, NJ) to take at 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

The Devils plated three runs in the top of the third inning, aided by two Ramapo miscues to jump out to a 3-1 lead. The Roadrunners got one back in the fourth inning when rookie Christian Spurr (Warren, NJ) walked to lead off the inning and advanced to second on wild pitch before advancing to third on a balk by the Devils pitcher. He scored on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Joseph Della Serra (Cranford, NJ), 3-2. With two outs in the fifth inning the Devils broke the game open, scoring three runs to take a 6-2 lead. They tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth inning and three runs in the eighth inning to take a 10-3 lead.

Ramapo got two runs back in the bottom of the eighth inning when Spurr ripped a two run home run over the left field wall, Hansford who scored on the play doubled to lead off the inning, 10-5.

Sophomore Dan Moreno (Cranford, NJ) was 3-5 while Hansford and Spur were each 2-4 in the game. Rookie PJ Cerreto (Paramus, NJ) took the loss falling to 1-1 on the season, he struck out four while giving up four runs, all unearned.
