The Red Hawks got on the board in the top of the first inning when Scott Evangelist (Northfield, NJ) doubled to left field plating Andy Himmelfarb (Nyack, NY) who walked earlier in the inning. Kevin Bond (Cedar Grove, NJ) picked up a RBI with a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring on the play was Evangelis.
Ramapo tied the game in the third inning. Senior
Joey Cacchiola (Union, NJ) ripped a single to center field plating
Nicholas DiGirolamo (Dumont, NJ) who walked earlier in the inning. Rookie
Christian Spurr (Warren, NJ) then smacked a double to left center field as Cacchiola scored from first base to tie the game at two.
Junior
Rob Dimperio (Jackson, NJ) singled past the short stop before being sacrificed to second base and moving to third on a wild pitch. He later scored on a infield ground out to shortstop by senior
Justin Donnarumma (Wayne, NJ).
With two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, MSU scored to take at 4-3 lead. Matt Matt Moreno (Park Ridge, NJ) singled to center field before stealing second base. Jason Chersterman (Bloomfield, NJ) then ripped a single to center field picking up the RBI.
The Red Hawks were able to hold the lead in the bottom of the ninth to pick up their 15th win of the season. Sophomore Saen Hille pitched a complete game, striking out six and walked two while scattered ten hits.
DiGirolamo was 3-3 in the game with one run scored while Cacchiola and rookie
Michael Hansford both went 2-4 in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 PM when they host Baruch College.
