Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swim team opened up their 2010-2011 season with a tough loss to NJAC rival The College of New Jersey today at the Adele and Rueben Thomas Swimming Pool.
The Lions came away with a 159-95 victory raising their record to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference while the Roadrunners begin the season, 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the NJAC.
Stephen Fox (Freehold Twp., NJ) clocked in at 55.55 in the 100-yard backstroke taking home a first place finish; he also placed second in the 50-yard free with a time of 22.68.
Geoff Richter (Cherry Hill, NJ) placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:12.48) while
Johnny Olsson (Stockholm, Sweden) clocked in at 5:31.49 for third place.
Mike Waterhouse (Eastampton, NJ) (55.51),
Terry Hubert (Howell, NJ) (55.90) and
Nikolas Ablan (Hazlet, NJ) (1:04.34) placed 2-3-4 in the 100-yard butterfly.
Fox took home second place in the 200-yard IM in 2:08.42 while
Andrew English (Lincoln Park, NJ) and
Kyle Plucinsky (Denville, NJ) placed third (2:09.37) and fourth (2:26.99) respectively. The 200-yard freestyle relay team made up of Hubert, Richter, Olsson and Waterhouse placed first overall in 1:32.40.
The Roadrunners return to action when they host non-conference foe Drew University on November 6th at 2:00 PM.
