Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's field hockey team defeated Wilkes University, 2-1 today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners now stand at 8-9 on the season while the Colonels are now 5-10 overall.
After a scoreless first half, Wilkes got on the board off a penalty stroke by rookie Ashley Ream (Manhiem, PA) 40:19 into the game.
Ramapo junior
Jayne Manigrasso (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) scored her sixth and seventh goal of the season to propel the Roadrunners to a 2-1 victory. Her first goal came at 41:40 as she stole the ball at midfield and raced past two defenders before ripping the shot into the back of the cage to tie the game at one.
With 8:39 left in the game Manigrasso again was able to gain possession inside the circle and score the game-winning goal for the Roadrunners.
In the game, Ramapo out shot Wilkes, 17-5 and had a 14-9 advantage on penalty corners while sophomore
Rebecca Elliot (Brick, NJ) posted three saves in the cage. Junior Lindsey Davenport (Columbia, PA) posted ten saves for Wilkes.
The Roadrunners honored their senior class prior to the game. Good luck and congratulations to #5
