SANTANIELLO BREAKS RECORD FOR GOALS IN A SEASON LEADING RAMAPO TO 3-0 SHUT OUT

Mahwah, NJ: Sophomore Rob Santaniello (Oakland, NJ) led the Roadrunners with two goals to a 3-0 victory over the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers Camden University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference men's soccer match-up today at the Athletic Center. With the victory, the Roadrunners secure a spot in the 2010 NJAC post-season tournament, and improve to 10-2-4 overall, 4-1-3 in the conference. Rutgers Camden falls to 8-8-1 overall and 3-5 in the conference.

It only took nine minutes and 27 seconds for Santaniello, the national's leader scorer across divisions I, II, and III (21 goals), to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 edge, when he ripped a shot from inside the box past the Rutgers Camden netminder. The goal, his 20th of the year, broke the all-time record for goals in a season which was previously held by Ramapo Hall of Famer Nansha Kalonji from the 1997 season.

The second half of play was scoreless until the 87th minute when Vogas recorded his second assist of the game slipping a ball to Andy Cesti (Paterson, NJ) who scored his first collegiate goal giving Ramapo a 3-0 lead with minutes to play. Ramapo played out the final minutes gaining a 3-0 shut out in Mahwah.
