Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 double overtime draw against Richard Stockton College today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners now stand at 8-2-4 overall, 3-1-3 in the NJAC while the Ospreys stand at 10-4-2 overall, 3-2-2 in the conference.
The Ospreys got on the board late in the first half when, Stockton's leading scorer senior Rafael Duarte (Ocean City, NJ) scored his 12th goal of the season off a pass from junior Sal Pistone (Blackwood, NJ) to go up 1-0 with 34:40 on the clock.
Ramapo out-shot Stockton, 10-7 and had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks in the first half. The Roadrunners tied the game in the 75th minute when sophomore
Rob Santaniello (Oakland, NJ) scored his team leading 17th goal of the season. Junior
Frank Vogas (Clifton, NJ) and sophomore
Jonathan Yazo (Cliffside Park, NJ) recorded the assist. In the second half Ramapo out-shot Stockton, 12-4.
The first overtime was evenly played with the Roadrunners out shooting the Ospreys, 3-1 and in the second sudden-death overtime both teams had chances to put the game away. Duarte ripped a shot that senior goalkeeper
Brad Stockton (Toms River, NJ) saved with 58 seconds left on the clock. Ramapo would counter at Stockton's end of the field with an opportunity of their own with 37 seconds left when senior sweeper
Jim Clementi (Medford Lakes, NJ) ripped a shot that was tipped over the net by the Osprey goalie. A quick corner by Ramapo was cleared to midfield with seconds remaining, ending the game knotted at one.
Stockton tallied three saves in the game for Ramapo. While Osprey rookie goalie Tim Brett (Palmyra, NJ) posted nine saves in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action when they host Western Connecticut State on October, 20th at 4:00pm.
