RAMAPO PICKS UP THREE WINS IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team picked up three wins today over USMMA, Simmons College and Baruch College. The Roadrunners now stand at 13-3 overall.

Ramapo defeated USMMA, 3-1 (25-10, 24-26, 25-11, 25-10). The Roadrunners were led by sophomore Kayla Anders (Harrington Park, NJ) with 14 kills on 24 attempts. Sophomore's Kaitlin Smith (Westwood, NJ) and Maura Burke (Wyckoff, NJ) added 13 kills. Smith posted three service aces while Burke added four blocks.

Sophomore Tiffany Fischer (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) tallied 47 assists while adding a team high five service aces. Sophomore Elizabeth Steck (Marlton, NJ) posted a match high 21 digs.

For the Mariners, rookie Marisa Sanchez (Connersville, IN) posted a team high eight kills while senior Jesselyn LaValley (Havelock, NC) collected seven.

Baruch College defeated Simmons College, 3-1 (25-19, 25-20, 19-25, 25-13). The Bearcats were led by senior Mayra Estepan (Forest Hills, NY) with nine kills, three assists and nine digs while sophomore Laura Hayden (Parker, CO) collected five kills. Rookie setter Melinda Santiago (East Patchogue, NY) posted 35 assists, three service aces and seven digs in the match while sophomore Posey Wilson (Fayetteville, AK) had a team high 15 digs and four service aces. For the Sharks, sophomore Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, CA) recorded a match high 14 kills while adding 12 digs. Rookie Kelly Last (West Haven, CT) posted 13 digs, three kills and one block while senior Amanda Weaver (Eaton, OH) tallied 28 assists and five digs.

Ramapo would defeat the Sharks, 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-11) in match two. Anders paced Ramapo with 15 kills on 21 attempts to hit .571. Fischer tallied 23 assists while adding three service aces and three digs. Senior Meagan Taege (Manahawkin, NJ) collected a match high seven digs.

The Sharks were led by Flynn who tallied seven kills while adding five service aces. Weaver posted 11 assists in the match.

Baruch defeated USMMA, 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-19, 26-24) in their second match of the day. The Bearcats were led by Hayden posted 13 kills while Wilson tallied 28 digs and four service aces. Santiago dished out 40 assists while adding 11 digs and three service aces in the win.

The Mariners were led by LaValley who tallied 17 kills, seven blocks and 11 digs. Junior setter Jenna Palaschak (Annadale, VA) posted 34 assists in the match, five digs and three kills while junior Ana Fuschetto (Swink, CO) posted ten digs, five aces and two assists.

Ramapo took home a 3-2 win over Baruch College (24-26, 25-13, 25-12, 23-25, 15-8) in their final match of the day.

Anders once again led the Roadrunners with a match high 20 kills on 33 attempts, she also collected six blocks. Smith and Burke added 16 and 12 kills respectively while Smith added four blocks and Burke three. Fischer tallied a match high 55 assists while adding six digs and two blocks.

For the Bearcats, Carissa Hoover (Vista, CA) led the team with 17 kills and Santiago collected 38 assists.

USMMA defeated Simmons College 3-1 (25-14, 21-25, 25-17, 25-14). USMMA was led by LaValley who posted 26 kills, one service ace and two blocks. Palaschak collected 30 assists and Sanchez tallied four kills while adding nine digs.

Ramapo returns to action when they travel to NJAC rival Stockton College on September 29th at 7:00 PM.
