Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's tennis team defeated the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers University-Newark today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners improve to 8-9 overall while the Scarlet Raiders even their record to 5-5.
The Roadrunners took all nine matches to defeat Rutgers-Newark, 9-0.
Prasanna Fernando (Wood-Ridge, NJ) and
Anthony Jelderks (Wayne, NJ) won at first doubles, 8-2 over Kevin Santos and Brian Barbera
Alan Kats (Montville, NJ) and
Chad Rochman (Oakland, NJ) picked up their third win together at second doubles, 8-1 before
Michael Clark (Sewell, NJ) and
Sam Klein (Hillsborough, NJ) picked up their fourth win of the season and now stands at 4-0 with an 8-1 victory at third singles.
Fernando picked up his ninth win of the season at first singles as he defeated Santos, 6-2 and 7-5. Kats defeated Kashyap Patel for his fifth win of the season, 6-0, 6-1 while Jelderks defeated Brian Barbera, 6-2 and 6-4.
Matt Cacciaguida (Hampton, NJ), Rochman, and Klein picked up wins at fourth through six singles to shutout the Scarlet Raiders.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday when they host Neumann College at 1:00 PM.
