MURANO'S COMPLETE GAME LEADS RAMAPO TO 3-0 WIN OVER TCNJ

Mahwah, NJ: Junior pitcher Michael Murano (Brick, NJ) pitched a complete game performance today leading the Roadrunners to a 3-0 victory over the Lions of The College of New Jersey in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up. The Roadrunners improve to 18-15 overall, 8-8 in the NJAC, while the Lions fall to 20-14-1 overall, 11-4 in the conference.

The Roadrunners got on the scoreboard in the 1st inning when freshman Joseph Della Serra (Cranford, NJ) ripped a single up the middle to score senior David Deredita (Clark, NJ) who singled, moved to second on a throwing error, and moved to third on a single by junior Joey Cacchiola (Union, NJ). Sophomore Justin Leon (New City, NY) recorded a sacrifice fly to score senior Gino Gallagher (Cedar Grove, NJ) from third. This put the Roadrunners up 2-0 over the Lions. Ramapo tacked on an additional run in the 8th inning when Cacchiola ripped one to right field to score sophomore Rob Dimperio (Jackson, NJ) from second base.  Dimperio reached on a single up the middle to reach first base.

With the win Murano improves to 2-1 on the year, striking out three batters, walking two, and giving up twelve hits. The Lions pitcher Dan Ramos-Dominko (Hampton, NJ) falls to 3-3.  He struck out ten batters, walked two, and gave up seven hits.

Ramapo recorded seven hits in the game with Cacchiola leading the way.  He went two for three while driving in one run. Deredita and Dimperio both were one for three while each scoring a run. The Lions recorded twelve hits in the game, led by senior Jeff Toth (Parlin, NJ) who went two for two and recorded two walks.

The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow Saturday, April 25th at home against NJAC rival Rutgers-Newark at 12:00 PM.
