RAMAPO FALLS TO TCNJ, 8-3

Ewing, NJ:  The College of New Jersey baseball team continued its hot hitting at the plate as the Lions reeled off its third straight New Jersey Athletic Conference win by beating Ramapo College 8-3 on Friday at George Ackerman Park.

The win put TCNJ at 6-3 in the NJAC and 14-12-1 overall as the Lions have scored 32 runs in their modest three-game winning streak.

The loss knocked Ramapo to 10-12 on the year and 3-6 in the NJAC.

Senior Jeff Toth (Parlin, NJ/Sayreville) had another solid day at the plate going 2-for-3 with a grand slam homer, four runs batted in, and scored twice.

Starting pitcher Dan Anderson (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South) squared his record at 2-2 on the season as he went six innings allowing only a pair of runs on five hits.

The Roadrunners grabbed the early lead with a run in the third as Michael McGuckin (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) led off with a double and came home on a ground out by Gino Gallagher (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar) making it 1-0.Twp.)

Ramapo's lead was short lived as Toth needed just one swing in the bottom of the inning as he drilled a towering grand slam to left field putting the Lions in front, 4-1. That home run was his third in the last two games.

Ramapo did get one of those runs back in the fourth as Mike Manges (Glen Rock, NJ/Paramus Catholic) raced home on a wild pitch.

TCNJ pushed the lead back to 5-2 in its half of the fourth as Ryan Anzelone (Vernon, NJ/Vernon) raced home on a RBI ground out by Anthony Palmiotto (Manchester, NJManchester Twp.).

Toth factored in on TCNJ's sixth run in the fifth as singled up the middle and came home on an infield hit by Andrew Priece (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan).

The Lions tacked on two more runs in the sixth, while the Roadrunners pushed one last run across in the eighth.

TCNJ plays two more key NJAC games tomorrow heading to Montclair State University for a doubleheader with the Red Hawks, while the Roadrunners return home to face sixth-ranked Kean University in a pair of games. Both doubleheaders are slated to get underway at noon.
