RAMAPO CRUISES BY ST. JOE’S, 11-1

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team played host to the Golden Eagles of St. Joe's College today at Jeff Maund Field earning an 11-1 victory to improve to 8-7 overall. St. Joe's falls to 9-6.

The Roadrunners got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the 1st inning when David Deredita (Clark, NJ) led off with a single, and later came home on a sac fly from senior Joey Cacchiola (Union, NJ). Mike Manges (Glen Rock, NJ) scored a run of his own in the 4th inning to give the Roadrunners a 2-0 edge. Rookie Joseph Della Serra (Cranford, NJ) drove in Manges on a single to right field.

St. Joe's crossed a run of their own in the 6th, when pinch runner Joe Kennelly (Lindenhurst, NY) touched home plate on a single up the center from Mark Cisek (Sayville, NY).

The Roadrunners went up 3-1 in the bottom of the inning with a run from Tim Gaven (Union, NJ) after Cacchiola grounded to second base to drive in the runner. A squeeze play gave Ramapo a 4-1 lead and after an error at third base, six more runs crossed the plate for Ramapo, giving the home team a 10-1 lead.

Rob Nosari (Hamilton, NJ) chipped in a run in the 8th inning to grab an 11-1 victory over the Golden Eagles.

Rookie Kevin Know (Matawan, NJ) went 2-3 with one run while Manges hit 2-4 with one run and two RBI. Cacchiola chipped in one run and two RBI hitting 1-3 in the win. Della Serra posted two hits on three at bats with one run batted in.

For St. Joe's Cisek hit 1-3 with one RBI while Kennelly scored the lone run in the game.

Antonio Imbimbo (Wayne, NJ) pitched 5 1/3 innings, letting up six hits and one run. He struck out two improving to 1-1 on the year. John Guagliardo (Staten Island, NY), Dave Cahoon (Haskell, NJ), and Jack McDonough (Cranford, NJ) each made appearances on the mound in the final innings of play holding the Golden Eagles to only one hit in the final 3 2/3 innings. John Okerblom (Oakdale, NY) gets the loss to fall to 2-1. He struck out zero and walked zero, while letting up four hits and one run in 3.0 innings pitched.

Ramapo return to action tomorrow when they host Western Connecticut at 3:00pm at Jeff Maund Field.
