Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team fell to the Profs from Rowan University today, 4-0. The Profs finish the NJAC season undefeated at 6-0 and raises their overall record to 14-4. The Roadrunners fall to 6-11, 1-5 in the conference.
The Profs who are the 2009 NJAC regular season champions await news on their NCAA bid.
Rowan would get all the scoring they needed at 14:26 in the first half, when sophomore Julie Cairone (Medford, NJ) tallied her eighth goal of the season to go up 1-0.
The score remained 1-0 at the half with Rowan holding a 8-1 shot advantage. The Profs leading scorer junior Lauren Ross (Gloucester City, NJ) recorded her 18th goal of the season in the second half at 36:50; she was assisted by Cairone.
Cairone would score the final two goals of the game at 45:21, sophomore Laura DiMenna (Glassboro, NJ) assisted on the goal and again at 66:15 when she scored on a pass from senior Jenna Lombardo (Barnegat, NJ).
Rowan held at 14-2 edge in shots in the game. Sophomore goalie Lisa Apt (Mays Landing, NJ) recorded two saves in the game.
Senior
Megan Tierney (Wayne, NJ) posted four saves in the loss. Rookies
Rebecca Elliott (Brick, NJ) and
Amanda Ferry (Gloucester City, NJ) each saw time in the net, while Ferry tallied two saves.
Junior defender
Viktoria Kristbergs (Forked River, NJ) posted three defensive saves for the Roadrunners while sophomore
Aimee Herbert (Ocean Port, NJ) posted one.
