Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swim team picked up a crucial NJAC victory over rival Montclair State University today, 147-110. The Roadrunners improve to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks fall to 1-3 overall, 0-2 in the conference.
Sophomore
Stephen Fox (Freehold Twp., NJ) took home two first place finishes in the 100 and 200-meter backstroke events. In the 100-meter race he finished in 57:62 while in the 200-meter race he posted a time of 2:02.90.
In the 100-meter breast stroke the Roadrunners finished 1-2-3, rookie
Robert Stein (Sloatsburg, NY) captured first place in 1:03.97 while junior
David Nehls (Oakland, NJ) came in second place with a time of 1:04.44 and rookie
Kyle Plucinsky (Denville, NJ) finished in third in 1:05.98.
Rookie
Andrew English (Lincoln Park, NJ) placed in three events to help lead Ramapo as he placed first in the 200-meter Individual Medley (2:09.19). He also took home first place in the 200-meter butterfly in 2:10.24 and third place in the 200-meter backstroke in 2:09.78.
Sophomore
Mike Waterhouse (Eastampton, NJ) placed third in the 100-meter backstroke in 59.90 while in the 100-meter butterfly he placed second in 56:49. Sophomore
Peter Polgar (Wayne, NJ) placed first in the 50-meter freestyle (22.61) while in the 100-freestyle he placed second in 50:63.
The 200-meter medley relay team made up of Fox, Stein, sophomore
Terry Hubert (Howell, NJ) and Polgar took home a first place finish in 1:40.75. Hubert also placed first in the 100-meter butterfly in 55:31.
Rookie
Frank Patierno (Boonton Twp., NJ) placed third in the 100-meter freestyle event in 50:74.
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to NJAC foe Rowan University on Saturday, November 21st at 1:00 PM.
