Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team fell to the Hawks of SUNY New Paltz today, 3-2. The Roadrunners fall to 6-9 overall while the Hawks stand at 8-10.
New Paltz got on the board at the 18:12 mark when sophomore Maryana Organidis (Belford, NJ) scored off a pass from junior Sarah Schloss (Brant Lake, NJ).
Ramapo tied the game with 48 second left in the first half when sophomore
Jayne Manigrasso (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) tallied her 17th goal of the season with a shot in front of the net off a penalty corner.
Ramapo took nine shots in the first half to the Hawks four. Senior goalie
Megan Tierney (Wayne, NJ) tallied three saves and junior Elizabeth Tong (Woodstock, NY) posted four of her own for the Hawks.
Manigrasso put the Roadrunners in the lead 2-1 when she scored her 18th goal of the season off a penalty corner at 36:14, she was assisted by sophomore
Aimee Herbert (Ocean Port, NJ).
The Hawks tied the game at 39:10 when senior Kristen Bergmann (Massapequa, NY) hit the back of the net, she was assisted by Schloss. Schloss scored her first goal of the game at 46:33 to put the Hawks in the lead 3-2.
Tierney finished with five saves while Tong finished with nine, she was helped out by three defensive saves for the Hawks. One by junior Caitlin Ryder (Hopewell Junction, NY) and two by Ann Marie Rudd (Garden City Park, NY).
The Roadrunners out shot the Hawks in the game 17-9.
