Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision today to the Profs of Rowan University at the Athletic Center in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up. With the loss, Ramapo falls to 7-2-2 overall, 2-2-1 in the NJAC, while the Profs improve to 7-3-1 overall and earn their second straight NJAC win to improve to 2-1-1 in the conference.
The Profs controlled much of the first half of play, out shooting the Roadrunners, 7-3, but in the final 45 minutes, the Roadrunners edged the Profs, 13-6 in shots, controlling much of the second half.
In the final seconds of the game, senior forward Mike Pascale (Toms River, NJ) made a final push up the right side of the field, crossing the ball in front of the Ramapo net, where rookie Petter Lunde (Paramus, NJ) connected on the pass knocking in the game winner with just six ticks left on the clock, his fifth goal of the year.
Charlie Cunliffe (Lakewood, NJ) made four saves in the net for Rowan, earning his fourth shutout of the season while senior netminder
Ian Tighe (Wyckoff, NJ) blocked five shots in goal for Ramapo in the full 90 minutes, with one goal against.
Ramapo edged the Profs, 7-2 in corner kicks.
The Roadrunners host non-conference rival Drew University on Wednesday at 3:30pm while the Profs take on the University of Scranton on October 5th at 7pm on the road.
